Are these pottery templates good for beginners?

Yes. Many FromFran templates work well for beginners because they remove measuring guesswork and make slab-building projects easier to repeat.

Do I need a wheel to use these templates?

No. The templates are designed for slab building and handbuilt ceramics, so you can trace, cut, and assemble forms without a wheel.

How do I adjust a template for my clay body?

Use the pottery template calculator before printing if your clay body shrinks differently from the size a template was designed around.

About Free Templates

What this collection is

A small selection of FromFran patterns offered at no cost. These are printable PDF templates you can download, print, and use the same day. A way to try our method before committing to a full booklet.

Who it is for

Makers curious about template-based slab building. Anyone sampling the method, teachers testing a pattern with a class, and potters introducing friends to handbuilding.
