Jarra is a pottery template designed for handbuilding without a wheel.  The limited-edition printed booklet includes a waterproof, reusable paper template designed to withstand the demands of a pottery studio.

Use it again and again to create multiple versions of the same form, experimenting with different clays, colors, and finishes.

About Jarra

What this template is for

Jarra is a slab-building pottery template for making a geometric ceramic jug without a wheel. Seven labeled sections form the body, followed by a base and handle.

Who it is for

For ceramic artists, pottery students, teachers, and anyone interested in handbuilding with slabs. Some previous experience joining clay slabs is helpful.

How to use it

Prepare slabs ⅛–¼ inch (3–6 mm) thick. Transfer and cut each labeled section and cut the angled edges where indicated. Score, apply slip generously, join, press, and smooth each piece in alphabetical order. Attach the base and handle last, and allow the completed form to dry slowly.

What is included

Inside the booklet: Full-size Jarra slab-building template; seven labeled sections (A–G); base and handle; technical assembly illustrations; construction guidance. The printed edition includes a digital PDF copy.

Size & printing

Small Jarra edition. Print the PDF at 100% or actual size, without scaling to fit the page. Final ceramic dimensions depend on clay shrinkage and construction.

Do I need a pottery wheel?

No. Jarra is designed for slab building using handbuilding tools, clay slabs, and the supplied template.
What is special about the printed edition?

The limited-edition booklet includes a reusable waterproof paper template, photographic instructions, and technical assembly illustrations. A digital PDF is included.
Can I use this template to teach a class?

Yes. Select the Teaching License — PDF option for permission to use the template in pottery classes or workshops. Personal-use purchases do not include permission to distribute copies to students.
